League Of Reston Artists

Art by Karen Danenberger

Dream.‍ ‍Create. Inspire.

The League of Reston Artists (LRA) is a nonprofit, volunteer-run community of visual artists, photographers, and art supporters dedicated to celebrating creativity and connection. Through rotating group and solo exhibitions, artist talks, workshops, and community partnerships, we create opportunities to learn, share, and experience art in meaningful ways. Our outreach programs bring art into public spaces, support creative education, and fund an annual scholarship for local high school students pursuing the visual arts.

We welcome artists, art lovers, and curious visitors alike to connect, participate, and be part of a vibrant creative community.

Small Works Exhibits now open for registration!

Think small. Create big.

The League of Reston Artists' Small Works Exhibit is coming this summer, and we're inviting our members to show just how powerful art can be on a smaller scale.

This members-only exhibit encourages artists to create work no larger than 11" x 14"—a format that invites creativity, precision, and thoughtful composition. From bold visual statements to quiet moments of beauty, these pieces prove that size has nothing to do with impact.

Open to:
🖌️ Painters
🎭 Mixed Media Artists
📸 Photographers

The Art In Public Places Program (AIPP)

The League of Reston Artists’ Art in Public Places program is designed to do two things: provide opportunities for artists to exhibit and sell their work, and to give back to our community by bringing original art into shared spaces such as hospitals, community centers, libraries, and residential buildings.

While some venues may offer greater sales visibility than others, each location plays an important role in our mission. For many of these spaces—especially residential communities and care-focused environments—our artwork adds warmth, inspiration, and a meaningful connection to the local arts community.

We encourage participating artists to view this program not only as a sales opportunity, but as a meaningful way to contribute to the cultural and visual landscape of our community.

The AIPP Program is adding new venues to our list! The Reston Regional Library, and the Fairfax Government Center (North) — across the street from the library; will be available this summer. Both offer the opportunity to showcase 10+ pieces of art, and offer excellent visibility to the general public.

If you would like to be added to our roster of AIPP artists/photographers, check out our AIPP page here to sign up!

New and Returning AIPP Venues!
Fairfax North County Government Center & Reston Regional Library!

The Art in Public Places (AIPP) program continues to grow, and we’re pleased to welcome the Fairfax County North Government Center as a new exhibition venue. The Reston Regional Library has completed their renovations and LRA as secured space to display our artwork. Also, coming soon! The Reston YMCA will be available as a new venue—details to come! In addition to providing visibility and potential sales opportunities, AIPP is a way for our artists to give back—enhancing shared spaces and making art more accessible to the broader community.

New LRA Book Club!

Did You Know?

The inaugural LRA Book Club took place in May, where participants discussed The Secret Life of Sunflowers by Marta Molnar. The novel highlights the life of Johanna Bonger, Vincent van Gogh’s sister-in-law, alongside the story of a modern-day auctioneer.

After the discussion, members painted Van Gogh–inspired works, shared stories, and enjoyed time together over light refreshments. It was a small but lively group, and a wonderful start to what promises to be a meaningful addition to LRA programming. The Book Club will meet quarterly, with a continued focus on novels about artists.
