Barnes & Noble Display Opportunity
LRA members have been offered the opportunity to display
work at Barnes & Noble
in Reston. It is a small space that will fit only 10 to
12 small works or 3 to 4 large works. The wall is tall
for those who want to hang large pieces, salon style.
Prices cannot be displayed on the works, but there is a plastic
holder on the wall for placing a stack of bio/price lists. The
usual "public places" rules apply—no nudity or
violence can be depicted.
Each exhibiting artist
will be responsible for hanging and maintaining their own exhibits,
which will be displayed on a two-month rotation. LRA will
maintain the schedule, and will charge a 10% commission on any
sales from this location.
If interested, contact CParsons1@aol.com.

Calling All Volunteers!!
The LRA is growing faster than we can keep up with! Our
membership continues to grow and the artist participation in our
exhibitions continues to rise as well. What does it all mean?
Quite simply, we are inundated with work! Yes, staging exhibitions
is a lot of fun, but it also takes dedicated volunteers to make
it happen. We are an all volunteer organization that currently
produces 14 exhibitions per year in four major venues: The Jo
Ann Rose Gallery of the Reston Community Center, The National
Center Gallery of the U.S. Geological Survey, The University of
Phoenix Northern Virginia Campus and the Penzance Companies, all
located in Reston. We also offer a variety of educational programs,
seminars and critique sessions. By any measure, this is an amazing
amount of programming for a volunteer visual arts organization.
We always have a need for volunteer assistance in the following
areas, as well as a few special board positions noted below:
- Membership and data base management
- Marketing and promotions
- Hanging shows
- Taking down show
- Helping with show receptions
We NEED you and we WANT you to be involved in helping us to make
YOUR organization successful. As a member of the LRA,
the success of this respected organization rests heavily on YOUR
ability and willingness to volunteer your time in needed areas.
You can reach all of the Board Members of the LRA by
emailing us.
